1) INTRODUCTION

This course is mainly designed in response to cater for the increasing demand from the homoeopaths / graduates of India/ Pakistan & African sub-continent, to increase their wisdom and knowledge about the latest development in the practice of homoeopathy in the United Kingdom.

Allen College of Homoeopathy is a fully recognised education provider. Its under-graduate course is affiliated/recognised by the following THREE largest accreditation body here in the United Kingdom:

A. Society of Homoeopaths,U.K;

B. Homeopathic Medical Association of the United Kingdom;

C. Alliance of Registered Homoeopaths, U.K;


2) DURATION

3 weeks intensive and condensed programme.

3) PRE-COURSE REQUIREMENT

A) Successful completion of Undergraduate course from a government or other recognised College.

B) Adequate written and spoken English to participate in facilitated sessions and complete examinations.

4) COURSE STRUCTURE

I. WEEK-1:

A) Materia Medica:

(i) Personified approach with modern interpretations of old proving symptoms;
(ii) Clinical and Comparative Materia Medica with emphasis on Lesser Known Medicines, when well selected remedies fails;
(iii) Group Characters of medicines;
(iv) In-depth discussion of mental essences from Modern Materia Medicas;
(v) Key characters of polychrests and essence of each medicine is presented in a synopsis so you grasp a remedy picture through a few words only (please visit “Materia Medica Lectures : Banerjea’s new approach” icon in our web site for details);
(vi) Pictorial representation of drug pictures.

B) Case Taking & Practice Management:
 
(i) Approach used in England with emphasis on emotional essence and personality characteristics;
(ii) Inter personal skills development.

C) Repertory:

(i) Cross referencing emotional rubrics;
(ii) Computer aided modern Repertory programmes.

II. WEEK-2:

A) Developing individual research topics (subject will be allocated to each participant) and write a thesis on the project. A short examination will be held on your project presentation.

B) Dissertation/thesis presentation within the Allen College research guidelines.

This is to comprise:

i) Three of your improved/cured cases, giving detailed reason for prescriptions. Medical reports (blood analysis, X-ray, radiography reports etc.) and photographs with a permission statement from each patient.

ii) Clinical evidence of process, measurement of improvement and justification of treatment and chosen potency.

iii) No fewer than 2 follow-ups will constitute a valid case.

C) Some additional lectures and guidance.

D) Opportunity to join the regular Post Graduate course classes at the Allen College and inter-exchange with the Post graduate students.

III. WEEK-3:

A) Participation in an intensive International Summer School (the detailed timetable can be viewed at the web site under Summer School).

B) Clinical exposure within “Allen Clinic”, teaching clinic of Allen College of Homoeopathy.
 

UNIQUE ASPECTS OF THIS CONDENSED PROGRAMME:

A) Materia Medica:

i) Acquaintance with the western approach of psychic essences and personification of ‘Drug Pictures’ [e.g. Mr. Lycopodiums are Teachers, Doctors, Successful dictators, Politicians; and their personality character reflects they are Careful; Cautious; Conscientious; Conservative; Courteous; Contained; Avoid risk & commitments-Mr. Safe; Mr. Nux Vomicas are CEO, Share brokers, Salesman and their personality character reflects they are Ambitious, Impatient, Arrogant, Charismatic, Aggressive, Independent, Confident, Courteous, Workaholic, Perfectionist; Mrs. Pulsatillas are Nursery nurse, Teacher, Carer and their personality character reflects they are Emotional-tearful, Moody, Changeable, Pleasing, Perceptive, Affectionate, Caring, Forsaken, Worrier; and Miss Phosphorus can be Artists, Actors, Receptionists, Maitre D’hotel, Politician and their personality character reflects they are Expressive, Emotional, Social, Artistic, Impressionable, Gregarious, Sympathetic and Sensitive] with modern interpretations of old proving symptoms;

ii) How to open drug dependent cases (mostly the western patients are on conventional medications) and ascertain a clearer picture for the constitutional medicine e.g. asking the innate nature of the person, for example give ten words to describe yourself, and when patient says I am COMPASSIONATE: - e.g. Arg-nit, Bell, Calc, Calc.phos, Carcin, Caust, Coccul, Graph., Ign, Lach, Nat-m, Nux-v, Phos, Puls., Sulph. Graph, Ign, Nat-c, Nat-m, Nit-ac, Nux-v.; DUTIFUL :- Calc, Calc-I, Carcin.,Cocculus, Ignatia, Kali-ars., Kali-c, Kali iod., Lyco, Nat-m, Puls; EASY GOING :- Ars, Calc, Carc, Lil.tig., Lyco, Mag Mur., Nat-m, Nux-v, Phos.ac, Phos, Puls, Rhus Tox, Sepia, Sil., Sulph, Thuja; FAMILY ORIENTED :- Acet-ac, Anac., Ars, Baryta C., Calc, Calc-I, Calc-sil, Carc., Graph., Hep, Ign., Iod., Kali Br., Kali Nit., Kali phos., Lyco.,Mag carb., Nat carb.,Nat mur., Petr, Phos, Phos.Ac., Puls, Psor., Rhus-t, Sulph. etc. These are modern extensions/interpretations of old proving symptoms and not found in the Repertory books.

iii) Clinical and Comparative Materia Medica with emphasis on Lesser Known Medicines (e.g. Franciscea, Ginseng, Pimpenella, Stellaria, Viola etc. to open the steroid dependant Arthritic cases with few uncontaminated symptoms and absence of clear modalities; such lesser known organopathic medicines have capabilities to alleviate symptoms to certain extent and thereby giving the chance to wean off the conventional medication and experience shows after 40-50% weaning off; uncontaminated symptoms of the natural disease sufaces and give scope for constitutional prescribing) when well selected remedies fails;

iv) Group Characters (e.g. common characters of Natrums, Kaliums, Calcarea etc.) of medicines;

v) Key characters of polychrests and essence of each medicine is presented in a synopsis so you grasp a remedy picture through a few words only (e.g. retention for Nat.Mur; Anchor for Pulsatilla; Principle for Kali Carb; Unfulfilled for Tuberculinum etc.);

vi) Pictorial representation of drug pictures.


B) Case Taking & Practice Management:

Approach used in England with emphasis on emotional essence and personality characteristics [e.g.

a) asking hobbies to your patients: ’hunting’ reflects syphilitic taint; ‘travelling’ is tubercular whereas ‘gambling’ is sycotic!;

b) patient’s happiest and saddest incident in life: reflection of N.B.W.S—Never Been Well Since, the approach of Dr.D.M.Foubister, the British homoeopath and his emphasis on “significance of past history in homoeopathic prescribing”;

c) asking patient: if you could take a week off and money would be no object, what would you do? Mr.Psora is lazy and will do nothing; Mr. Tubercular will go round the world trip! So understanding the innate dyscrasia and miasmatic nature of your patient]

C) Repertory:

i) Cross referencing emotional rubrics;
ii) Personality profile Repertory;
iii) Computer aided modern Repertory programmes.


5) LECTURERS (FACULTY)

British pounds £ 1600 (Sixteen Hundred only) for the 3 weeks programme.

Group discount: 10% for group of 3; 20% for group of 6.

7) CERTIFICATION

You will be eligible to use the designated letters,
P.G. Hom. (England) after successfully completing the course.

9) TRAVEL HELP & VISA

Please contact a good travel agent who has experience in applying for U.K Visa.

You might think that our Post Graduate Programme can be your best option but this is a 2 years programme and it is expensive to live in England for longer period, as we do not offer any scholarship.

In reference to this context, please note that the 3 weeks “P.G.Hom Course” is a short but intensive programme and as we are listed as a recognised "Education Provider" therefore, you can apply for a 'student visa' which hopefully will be granted by the High Commission of the United Kingdom in your country, provided you can satisfy the High Commission with ample documentations that you will return to your own country after the course. On receiving your 'advance deposit', we will send you an official invitation letter from the college for processing your visa, as well as our travel agent may also be able to offer you some guidelines about the documentations
you need to obtain your `student visa’ for your short visit to England.

Therefore, if you like to come to England; the 3 weeks “P.G.Hom Course” will be your best choice. You will be awarded the certificate from Allen College of Homoeopathy, Essex, England, after successfully completing the programme.


10) COURSE DATES

For 2008: 11th July to 31st July 2008.

11) SCHOLARSHIP

There are no discounts or scholarships available. Please do not cause embarrassment by asking.

12) HOW TO APPLY

A) Please send the completed application form, photocopies of all your credentials (especially DHMS/BHMS/Equivalent Under Graduate Course Certificate/Mark sheets) and a non-refundable deposit of British pounds 200 (two hundred only), which will be deducted from course-fees when you join the course. If your visa is not issued by the British High Commission of your country for some reason, we will refund GBP £100 as a gesture of good will.

B) On receiving your deposit, our travel agent may be able to offer you some guidelines about the documentations you need to obtain your visa for your short visit to England.

C) After obtaining your visa, we will send you the travel planner from London Heathrow Airport to the Allen College and hotel/ bed-breakfast accommodations around the College and any details which will make your stay comfortable.

D) The balance amount of the course fees can be paid in cash (in British Pounds only; not U.S Dollars), during registration on the first day of the course at the College.
